This week we have Coach JFK of NSA Hockey taking a look at Bauer's newest stick the NEXUS ADV. The NEXUS ADV redefines stick performance. Not only is this the lightest NEXUS stick ever created, it is loaded with revolutionary technology that will give players a level of confidence they have never experienced when shooting the puck. ER SPINE TECHNOLOGY USES A NEW 5-SIDED SHAFT GEOMETRY TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE. By changing the geometry of the shaft, we can remove excess carbon fiber layers in the key loading area of the stick while maintaining a standard Nexus mid-kick point. PERFORMANCE BENEFITS: • Reduces weight • Creates a faster transfer of energy to the blade • It’s easier to lean into the stick to load and release shots with less effort SHAPE BENEFITS: • This new shape has been designed to contour to the palm of your hand to maximize feel and control SLINGTECH INSERTS A HOLE IN THE BLADE TO CREATE A SLINGSHOT EFFECT WHEN RELEASING THE PUCK. WHY A HOLE? By adding a hole in the blade, we were able to create two separate blade sections with different properties that work together while loading and releasing shots. RESULT: • The blade does the work, making it easier to load and release the puck with added acceleration • The two different sections hug the puck for better control WHAT ABOUT DURABILITY? We used FEA analysis, spent over 2000 hours on the ice and did every type of lab testing possible to ensure we didn’t compromise blade durability with this new technology. RESULT: • We reinforced the edges of the hole to ensure that durability is on par with our elite level sticks HOW SHOULD THE BLADE BE TAPED? There isn’t a special or unique way to tape the blade. It should be taped the same way as a standard blade.

Bauer Sling Stick (Senior) - 🤍 Bauer Sling Stick (Intermediate) - 🤍 Bauer Sling Stick (Junior) - 🤍 Introducing the Bauer Sling hockey stick, the sequel to the Nexus ADV stick from 2020. With upgraded technology, increased stability, and a quicker release, players who want an elite stick to help take their game to the next level will love what the Sling has to offer. Bauer focused on a few key changes to the blade. First, the hole in the stick is now shorter. By doing this Bauer has increased the stiffness around the slot and the toe, and it creates more forgiveness no matter where you make contact with the puck. The shorter hole provides higher stability which equals a bigger sweet spot in the blade. Secondly, the material in the blade has also been upgraded from stiff AeroFoam in the entire blade core of the ADV to using AeroFoam on the outer edges and a strong epoxy material in the core strike zone. The two foams are fused together with vertically placed carbon bridges which creates a blade that is 15% more durable on impact. Lastly, because the epoxy core is stronger, less carbon material is needed so the core area of the blade can be thinner. To reap the benefits of the thinner area below the slot, Bauer has made the rest of the blade thicker to create more stability and force all energy into the key strike zone. This technology creates an optimized kick zone in the blade allowing for easier loading and release, acting like a sling shot. Bauer is calling this technology SlingTech 2.0. When it comes to tapping this new blade, don’t worry. However, you tape your stick is exactly how you should tape this one, too. No tape job is going to hinder the SlingTech 2.0 performance. As we transition from the blade up the shaft, Bauer uses the ER Spine technology which we saw in the Nexus ADV. Similar to all of the previous NEXUS sticks, the Sling is a Mid Kick stick. This means that the shaft is slightly more flexible in both the hosel area and the handle, while the middle of the shaft is stiffer. Also passed down from the ADV is the five-sided geometry that allows Bauer to take out excess carbon fiber to create a spine in the shaft. Through this spine, energy is more easily transferred, making for effortless loading and a top-notch release. Weighing in at 375 grams, the Sling is slightly heavier than the ADV, which was 365 grams, but has an improved balance point for a much better feel. All in all, regardless if you are an elite-level player or not, if you are looking for the most dynamic, cutting edge stick on the market, look no further than the Bauer Sling Stick. But hurry, supplies are limited and when they are gone, they are gone for good.
