“Ride the Lightning” and “Master of Puppets” have some great songs on them. I grew up on “classic metal” and punk. You were ruined by the great Sepultura and peaked too soon. Hard to go back Metallica and especially to Iron Maiden after that.
I appreciate admitting that you never owned or were into any of these benchmark bands like Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, etc. We are about the same age and from what you’ve said in the past, had a similar exposure and progress of interest in metal….I remember giving bands like Iron Maiden, Sabbath, even Megadeth and Anthrax an honest shot and left feeling underwhelmed. I latched on to Pantera, Sepultura, and Slayer and then found what I was really looking for with Deicide, Entombed, Morbid Angel, etc. This was around 1994. I also never really got into Black Flag even though I love hardcore. It just felt like that stuff was already past its prime. As a young teenager in the 90s, the prime era of 80s metal was already over and just didn’t interest me. I did have Anthrax’s Fistful of Metal and that kind of served as a gateway before I started hearing more contemporary stuff.
Anyways I get it. There’s no reason to fawn over the legacy metal bands JUST BECAUSE they did it first.
I think with all genres, I kinda get bored after a time then move on to something else, then come back to it some time later and its just as good as i remember it.
Spoon aint bad
Care-a-male and puh-cons
im from the south. it is called pee-can not peh-kahn.
also, deafheaven is fantastic
I disagree with your opinion on some bands, but I agree 100% with system of a down I never liked that band. Frank Zappa wannabes.
Fin.... dude. Really man. I've sat quietly through all of your passive-aggressive metal shaming for over a year now because I had faith that you were really just fucking with everyone. But you are truly, and officially, A POSER!! Not even Metallica bro?? It doesn't matter how much brutal technical death metal or technical brutal death metal youve listened to, if your soul isnt darkened by Sabboth and your heart doesn't have the shield of Iron Maiden, you dont know metal. I'm genuinely hurt man. From this point forward you may consider your gatekeeper card revolked. Goodbye Fin. I'm gonna watch your videos still, but just know that we know now...
How do you like all the bands you talk about but you don't like Metallica? Its not offensive or poserish it's just fu**ing weird dude.
How do you not hear the perfection of the arrangements in those first 5 albums at the very least? Metallica is the Bethoven of metal.
I think your just doing the ultimate long term metal troll I don't buy it.
Martha splatterhead and beneath the remains! I'm Canadian and inner self got me along with st
When you said it, I realized I had never listened to a Black Sabbath album all the way through myself, either… 😳 thanks for making me feel like I’m a poser, too 😂 I’ll probs listen to the albums one of these days, though… and, in my defense, I have listened to a bunch of Ozzy’s solo albums all the way through, many many times… and one of my very first concerts was an Ozzy show when I was 7 years old, so even if I’m not THE most knowledgeable about Sabbath, my mom quite literally raised me on Ozzy’s solo stuff and I have that going for me 😂 (I did also see Sabbath and solo Ozzy shows as an adult, as well, so there’s that, too)
My point is, you can be a genuine fan of that style of music and still not know every single song or album bc there’s just SO much of it and especially if you weren’t alive when it came out and now you’re living in the age of being able to stream a million different artists whenever you want, there’s just too much to delve into to know EVERYTHING about EVERYTHING at this point and we’re all gonna have our gaps that we’re working on filling in, day by day. Rome wasn’t built in a day, man haha
finn: i dont like sabbath, maiden, megadeth. i started to listen pantera and machine head, so they seeemed to me too light.
finn: linkin parκ? wow, great band!
Watching Finn reviewing Mic The Snare's metal video
directly after watching said video is like the greatest YouTube meme ever. :)
I’m late to the party on this video. Also I am no Ozzy hating hipster but dude heaven and hell is one of the best metal albums ever.
One of the things and main reasons why I don’t have any friends that listen to metal is because I was constantly tired of people acting like there was a list of albums that you must have to be a true metalhead. It doesn’t bother me at all that you don’t like Metallica or Black Sabbath, I like some iron maiden songs, but I had one of their live albums on cassette, but that was it. But this whole idea that you’re not a real fan if you don’t on these 50 classic metal albums that every other metalhead likes I always thought it was really dumb.
If my ears like the music, I’m going to like the band. Like I know it’s blasphemous to say to thrash metal fans, but I don’t like Anthrax. I’m not saying I have anything personal against the members, I’m sure they’re all great guys, but I could never get into their music. Yeah metal fans really have an issue. If there are certain albums or bands, you don’t like, or if you like certain bands in albums that breaks the heavy metal rulebook. It’s only music, it’s our entertainment if you are liking something just because the heavy-metal robot told you to like it I think people like that are really missing what life is about.
The best metal fans are the ones who listen to other music besides metal.
Monotony IS the hook
Like, because I've never listened to a black sabbath album either.
Spoon fucking sucks.
